Doosan Infracore announced on 25 November 2018 that the company would participate in ‘Bauma China 2018,’ Asia’s largest construction machinery trade show, which will be held at the Shanghai New International Expo Center, China from November 27-30, 2018.
At the trade fair, Doosan Infracore will unveil its 5G-based construction machinery remote control technology, which it is developing in partnership with LG U+, to the public for the first time. The 5G Remote Control Station (Control Center) installed in the company’s exhibition booth will demonstrate the remote-control operation of an excavator located in Incheon, Korea, about 880 kilometers away from Shanghai, China. It will be the world’s first demonstration of the cross-national super long-distance remote control of an actual piece of construction machinery situated far away, meaning that the demonstration will be neither a virtual reality simulation nor a case of short-range remote control.
During the demonstration process, a low latency image transmitter developed by LG U+ will transmit highly-compressed super low-latent image data shot by five cameras mounted on an excavator in Incheon, Korea, to the monitors installed in the Remote Control Station in Shanghai, China. Then an operator at the Shanghai station remote-will control the Incheon excavator while looking at the images being transmitted on to the monitors in real time, as if operating the equipment nearby at the same construction site. Meanwhile, Doosan Infracore’s ‘3D Machine Guidance’ system will precisely measure the distance and depth of the excavation work, among other things, collected by the sensors installed in the excavator’s boom, arm and bucket as well as in its main body, and will then provide three-dimensional information to the excavator operator in real time.
Doosan Infracore’s exhibition booth will feature its entire lineup of construction machinery and solution services customized for the Chinese market, including twelve types of excavators, ranging from compact to 80-ton super-large models, two types of wheel loaders, and a variety of applications (accessories) as well as DoosanCONNECTTM and DoosanCARE, the company’s cutting-edge solution services.
In addition, Doosan Infracore will exhibit two types of compact and mid-size engines (D34 and DL06) that can meet China’s VI emissions standard, which is anticipated to take effect by 2020, along with its post-processing system and Doosan Bobcat’s ‘Earthforce’ equipment lineup, which are branded products designed specifically for the Chinese market.
An official of Doosan Infracore said, “Ever since we first made inroads into the Chinese construction machinery market in 1994, we have done our best to contribute to the development of China’s infrastructure,” adding, “At the 2018 exhibition, we will present our top-of-the-line construction equipment for the Chinese market while aiming to further enhance our corporate image as the leading provider of solution services based on cutting-edge technology such as 5G remote control and DoosanCONNECTTM.
