On September 11, Doosan Corporation, Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction and Doosan Infracore were all included in the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI) 2014. It was the first time for Doosan Corporation and Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction to be included in the Asia Pacific and Korea Index, respectively, while it is the fourth consecutive year that Doosan Infracore was in the Asia Pacific Index.

The DJSI evaluates the sustainability of companies by analyzing their financial, environmental and social performances. It is based on internationally recognized criteria jointly developed by the U.S.-based S&P Dow Jones Indices, the world’s largest resource for index-based financial research, and Swiss-based RobecoSAM.

Last year, Doosan Corporation launched its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Committee and built an operational system in line with corporate strategy. Starting from this year, Doosan Corporation also started promoting its CSR activities in and out of the company by publishing its first CSR Reports, joining the United Nations Global Compact, and making a strong commitment to fulfill its CSR. To raise CSR awareness, special lectures were also delivered to the employees and executives. Among the components of DJSI, Doosan received especially high marks in environmental policy and management system, health & safety, labor practice and human rights.

Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction, a more recent addition to the fiercely competitive construction industry, was included in the DJSI before many of its rivals. In the overall evaluation, it was ranked in top 3 percent in the construction sector, exceeding the scores of many world-class companies. On Sept. 3, Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction hosted a CSR Committee to examine global CSR trends and the progress made in its CSR initiatives. By internalizing CSR, Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction plans to focus on building strong competitiveness.

Doosan Infracore, which has been included in the DJSI for four consecutive years, entered top 8 percent this year, solidifying its position as a global CSR leader. It was recognized especially for its tax strategy, environmental and social performance reports, human resources development, ability to attract and nurture talent and community involvement activities. Most notably, it received the highest score in the social sector among the machine manufacturers. Doosan Infracore plans to focus on the implementation of its CSR activities in Bobcat North America starting from the second half of this year to expand its CSR activities throughout the entire company.
