Centrocar celebrates opening of the new facilities
2007. 10. 30

Three days full of colour, movement and joy marked the opening of Centrocar’s new amenities in Portugal. From now on, the company’s head office is officially located in the Portuguese city of Porto.

During the 20th, 2qst and 22nd of September, more than 500 people – including suppliers, clients and employees - were present in the inauguration ceremony organized by Centrocar to celebrate the opening of its new facilities.

September 20th was entirely dedicated to the delegations of the brands represented by Centrocar in the Iberian Peninsula. From Doosan Infracore, Centrocar welcomed the visit of Mr. D. W. Lee, President of Doosan Infracore Europe and of Mr. Thierry Deschamps, Sales and Marketing Director, as well as several other members of Doosan’s management board.

During September 21st and 22nd, Centrocar opened its doors to all its clients and employees that gathered in the new facilities to take part in a celebration that will be remembered for a long time.

In its opening speech, Pedro Mieiro, General Manager of Centrocar, summarized the history of the company, which in 2007 celebrates the 10th anniversary since it entered the new construction equipment business, a decision made in 1997 with the representation of Daewoo in Portugal. Pedro Mieiro also mentioned the new challenges Centrocar will face in the near future: renovating the Lisbon facilities, opening new offices in Madrid, launching the retail sales business in Spain and exploring new markets. According to Pedro Mieiro, Centrocar – a company currently employing 120 people, with more than 4600 machines sold in the Iberian Peninsula and an estimated sales volume of €80 million – is now prepared to enter a new era and to face the challenges of globalization.

During the three days of celebration, Centrocar offered its guests not only the opportunity to get to know first-hand the company’s new head-office but also the possibility of enjoying some high-quality entertainment. In each day the guests could watch a dance performance especially designed for the event called “The Man and the Machines”, in which the starts were not only the dancers but also a Doosan excavator and a Doosan wheeled loader! Next, the stage set up in the workshop embraced the innovative sound of the grupo “Be-Dom”, which presented a musical show where the instruments were cans, bottles and even spare parts of machines.
