The establishment of a Regional Training Center (RTC) between HD Hyundai Infracore and Saudi Diesel Equipment Company (SDEC), distributor from Saudi Arabia, was completed and the first collective training was held with an opening ceremony at the RTC of SDEC Al Khobar branch in eastern KSA on January 28 (local time).

SDEC, established in 1978 as a joint venture between Abduljawad family and Stewart & Stevenson in Saudi Arabia, signed a construction equipment distribution contract with HD Hyundai Infracore (Previously, Daewoo Heavy Industries) in 1993 and has maintained its partnership in the region for over 30 years.

SDEC has invested heavily in the preparation process. As there is an in-house training system with a long history, the efforts of the training staff to create a facility that can properly serve as an education center were confirmed through the final construction results.

The new opening of RTC was announced by inviting local guests. They toured the distributor facility, held a ribbon cutting ceremony, checked training materials inside the workshop, and then observed the intermediate collective training that was taking place inside. The small party attended by all invited guests, instructors, and trainees included an introduction video prepared by the distributor and congratulatory remarks from representatives of both companies, Junghwa Kim, Branch Head of HDIME (HD Hyundai Infracore Middle East) and Mr. Raad, President of SDEC.

A total of 11 technicians from 5 countries - Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Bahrain, Qatar, and Oman - attended this collective training. The trainees learned about data-based equipment diagnosis methods based on their understanding of VBO (Virtual Bleed Off, electronically controlled hydraulic system) and electrical/electronic systems applied to the latest model -7M series to complete an intermediate certification course.

As for the electric field training content, theoretical learning was conducted on the changes/differences and operating principles of the VBO system, the EPOS controller, and the operating principles of each electric component and system. Afterwards, they practiced about location and function of parts, along with measuring power and signals in actual equipment. Through this, the trainees were able to understand the fault diagnosis method of the unfamiliar VBO system and strengthen their work confidence in the field.

Thanks to the passionate lectures of the instructors and the active participation of the attendees, 4 out of 11 attendees achieved intermediate level certification. Through this training, they promised to conduct internal training at each distributor and strive to improve the uptime of DEVELON equipment in the field.

This collective training was targeting emerging regions and was operated through DEVELON University, which was newly introduced in 2024 to replace the existing online education system. The platform with improved user convenience opened courses, made attendees to register courses, and conducted certification management through entering the results.

In the future, all offline training will be managed within the system by applying the same operating method and will continue to support the growth of technicians through DEVELON University's online courses.

The PS team, who conducted the training, expressed gratitude to the people in charge and distributors who helped in the successful opening of RTC. They said that they would strive to foster intermediate level technicians by conducting continuous collective training using RTC in the Middle East.
