Doosan Infracore (President Dongyoun Sohn) has now been recognized for its superior technological competitiveness in core parts in addition to the widespread acclaim it has earned for its construction equipment.
On November 6, Doosan Infracore announced that its DCV300, the main control valve (MCV) used in medium-sized excavators, has been selected as one of the 'Top 10 Machine Technologies of the Year' by the Korean Federation of Mechanical Engineering Societies. The Top 10 Machine Technologies 2019 were announced at the Machinery Day 2019 event hosted by the Korea Association of Machinery Industry at the EL Tower in Yangjae, Seoul on November 6. In October, the company’s DX800LC, an 80-ton super-large excavator, was chosen by the National Academy of Engineering of Korea as an ‘Industrial Tech Accomplishment 2019’.
The MCV, which controls the hydraulic pressure of excavators, is a key part that enables the machines to move forwards and backwards and to excavate highly effectively by delivering hydraulic pressure to each component of the equipment. The development of the DCV300 began in 2014 when Dongyoun Sohn was serving as the chief technology director of the Corporate R&D Division. The company developed the DVC300 with the assistance of its major suppliers throughout the entire production process, including design, material development, verification and manufacturing, and successfully commercialized it in 2018.
The DCV300 is the world’s first MCV to be developed and commercialized as a mono-block housing (integrated body) for mid-sized excavators. The newly developed integrated-type MCV improves fuel economy by more than 10% and reduces manufacturing costs by over 20%, while offering superior durability compared to the existing combined-type MCV. Most notably, the integrated-type MCV is also designed for application to the next-generation hydraulic system armed with cutting-edge electrical and electronic technology, giving it unrivaled expandability.
An official of Doosan Infracore said, “The development of the DCV300 model is significant in that Doosan has developed a world-class hydraulic power technology while internalizing an original technology for the first time in the world,” adding, "Its technical value is even greater in that it can be used not only in construction equipment but in all machinery that depends on hydraulic power, including agricultural machinery."
